Blog Post 2: ISTE Standards and Digital Natives

Technology has become a large part of the classroom today. As more students are surrounded by technology in their personal lives, teachers have needed to find ways to incorporate some of this technology into their learning in order to encourage participation and understanding. Besides keeping the interest of students, technology has made many tasks simply easier. It makes sense to utilize tech in the classroom that is able to do more than one job. An example of this would be Smart Boards, which act as a whiteboard, projector, and computer all in one. The ISTE standards are prevalent in today's world due the continuing expansion of technology. It is important to have these standards in place so that educators can correctly navigate how to incorporate technology into the classroom. The standard that holds the most meaning for me in my life currently is under the Student Standards. Blog Post 1: About Me!

Hi, my name is Brittany! I am an FSU junior majoring in English Literature with a minor in Education. I moved up to Tallahassee from Fort Myers, FL two years ago and have been working full time while attending school. When I have free time, I love reading, hanging out with friends, and driving down to Orlando to go to Universal! After graduating, I plan on moving up to Ohio to be with my family. I am originally from Ohio, but moved down to Florida with my mom when I was in 2nd grade. I have two little brothers that are 4 and 2 years old though so I want to be around them more as they grow up. Once I move to Ohio, I plan on pursuing a teaching career in elementary education! I have a fair amount of experience using technology. I have grown up using Microsoft applications for school work and have had exposure to multiple social media outlets for about 12 years.
