Blog Post 1: About Me!
Hi, my name is Brittany! I am an FSU junior majoring in English Literature with a minor in Education. I moved up to Tallahassee from Fort Myers, FL two years ago and have been working full time while attending school. When I have free time, I love reading, hanging out with friends, and driving down to Orlando to go to Universal! After graduating, I plan on moving up to Ohio to be with my family. I am originally from Ohio, but moved down to Florida with my mom when I was in 2nd grade. I have two little brothers that are 4 and 2 years old though so I want to be around them more as they grow up. Once I move to Ohio, I plan on pursuing a teaching career in elementary education!
I have a fair amount of experience using technology. I have grown up using Microsoft applications for school work and have had exposure to multiple social media outlets for about 12 years. I work in Strozier Library on FSU's campus which has also exposed me to a variety of new software. I know the basics of Photoshop, photography, and some video editing software. I also have exposure to technology such as cameras, scanners, projectors, smart boards, and a variety of other tech the library offers. There are a lot of areas of tech I would like to improve on though, especially in relation to teaching, so I am looking forward to doing that in this class.
In this class, I hope to learn about different technologies that are used in the classroom currently. I have several teachers in my family, but the majority of them worked for schools during a time when tech was not so integrated in every day life. My mother is an assistant principal and even while she was teaching, the only newer technology she was exposed to was the smart board. Teaching is growing and changing constantly, with tech being more integrated all the time. I hope to learn more about these changes and integration in order to be better prepared for when I (hopefully) enter the classroom!
